The Rev. Dr. Scott H. Wachter, Pastor
Scott was born and raised in the South. The son of a civil engineer and a homemaker,
he moved frequently during childhood. He began elementary school in Summerville and
finished high school in Charlotte. He is a graduate of Brevard College (A.A.), The University
of South Carolina (B.A.), Asbury Theological Seminary (M. Div.), and Gardner-Webb University (D. Min.)
After serving twenty years in pastoral ministry in four appointments (Union-Irmo associate,
Cambridge-Ninety Six, Hampton-Varnville, and Buford Street), Scott moved here from Gaffney in June
of 2008. Scott recently completed his sixth year as the chairman of the S.C. Conference Board of
Church and Society. Scott's hobbies include hunting, boating, raising beagles, field trials,
high school football and studying the work of Stephen Hawking. Among his proudest moments are
receiving the Eagle Scout award and being the chairman of the board of directors of two pregnancy
care centers in South Carolina. Scott is a Rotarian and involved with the Fellowship of
Christian Athletes.
Scott and his wife, Teresa, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in August.
Teresa is a native of Henderson, NC. She is a math teacher at Socastee High School.
Scott and Teresa have a 16-year-old daughter, Aliceann, who is a junior
at the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Math in Hartsville.
Aliceann loves to hunt, read, boat, study Aikido, and participate in church activities.
She is the proud caretaker of eight beagles and a hairless hamster.
